Michael Kors and Google team up for Access smartwatch

Image
Smartwatches are a curious breed that have struggled with a bit of an identity crisis. To date, it hasn’t been clear if they’re for techies, fitness buffs or average folk. The numerous models on the market span across a growing number of categories, making it hard for smartwatches to distinguish themselves in the market. One area that’s been tested, however, is that of luxury smartwatches. While this sector hasn’t been quite as successful as hoped, companies are continuing to give it a go to see if there’s untapped potential. Michael Kors is the latest brand to get in on the action, utilizing Android Wear to create the Access smartwatch. This wearable is geared towards the fashion market and features two styles, a metallic gold option and a sportier metal option that comes in charcoal. Both watches have interchangeable leather and silicone bands, though metal and other materials should also work as long as they’re of the right size. The Access features built-in fitnes...

As part of the IFA event this week in Berlin, Acer is announcing its Predator 21 X, the industry’s first desktop replacement notebook with a curved display. The laptop is aimed at gamers without budget constraints and packs high-end gaming hardware, such as Intel’s 7th Generation Kaby Lake processors, two NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards in SLI and even a mechanical keyboard. The system can hardly be called a mobile computer because it is very large and heavy, but it still comes in clamshell form-factor and can be transported relatively easily. One of the key features is the display. The Acer Predator 21 X will be the company’s new flagship gaming notebook, which will feature a plethora of technologies that we have not seen in laptops so far. The machine will be based on Intel’s upcoming 7th generation Core processors codenamed Kaby Lake. Acer does not reveal exact CPU models or their specifications, but given the positioning of the notebook, expect the company to...

Now Fitbit is back with two new activity trackers that aim to bring more features and style to the company’s growing lineup. The Charge 2, which is the successor to the extremely popular Charge HR , is Fitbit’s new flagship activity tracker that sports some new software features and interchangeable bands. The Flex 2, which is the successor to 2013’s Flex, brings a swim-proof design and a focus on fashion. Let’s start with the Fitbit Charge 2. Basically, if you loved the Charge HR but need something a little more beefy, the Charge 2 will do the trick. It still comes with all the great fitness features you’ve grown to love – automatic activity tracking, sleep tracking, move reminders, and more – but now there’s a much larger 1.5-inch touchscreen display that will be able to show you more information at a glance. The screen will display your move reminder...

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the actual release of the Samsung Gear IconX wireless Bluetooth earbuds ever since they started talking about it and last week, it finally dropped together with the new Gear VR through AT&T. But if you prefer to do your shopping over at a certain online retail giant, this unique audio accessory is also now available through Amazon. It’s not the cheapest of earbuds though, but if you have extra to spare, critics are saying this should be worth the couple of hundred bucks that you need to pay to get them into your ears. The Gear IconX has a lot of selling points if you’re looking for audio accessories that are more than just things you stick in your ears to hear music. For one thing, it has an internal storage of 4GB so you can store around 1,000 audio files and you don’t even need to bring your phone when you’re working out or doing a fitness activity. It is also water-resistant so you don’t have to worry about a little rain or a lot of sweat sho...
